Vivo IPL Match Score And Highlights 2018

The Indian Premier League, India's premier T20 tournament, is scheduled to take place in 2018 from April 7 to May 27. The 11th edition of the tournament sees a complete squad overhaul, with the mega-auctions having taken place in Bengaluru on January 27 and 28.

The 2018 edition will also see the return of the Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, the two teams that were banned in 2015 due to spot-fixing and other issues. However, their return for the 2018 season meant the removal of the Gujarat Lions and Rising Pune Supergiant, both of which played in the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

Rajasthan Royals will play against Delhi at home today where both teams will look to bounce back after the loss in their first games of IPL 2018

The IPL 2018 Schedule is out now and this year each team will play a total of 14 matches (one home match and one away match), after which the playoffs will take place. The final will take place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. However, the venues for the other playoffs have not been decided yet.

The auctions, which took place in January, saw a lot of changes to the squads. Each side was allowed to retain a maximum of 5 players, which included two Right-To-Match options. While most sides retained the usual suspects, there were a few surprises.

Gautam Gambhir, who was not retained by the Kolkata Knight Riders, was bought by the Delhi Daredevils for Rs. 2.80 crore. Apart from that, the other superstars such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni were retained by their respective franchises, with Dhoni going back to the Chennai Super Kings.

Ben Stokes, who was the most expensive player last year, was bought by the Royals this year for Rs. 12.5 crore, making him the most expensive player once again. The other big buys in the auction included the two Karnataka lads - Manish Pandey and KL Rahul - going for Rs. 11 crore each to Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab respectively.

Krunal Pandya and Ishan Kishan topped the uncapped players list, both of them being bought by the Mumbai Indians for Rs. 8.8 crore and Rs. 6.2 crore respectively.

Amongst the foreigners, it was the Australians who were in high demand. Mitchell Starc was sold to the Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs. 9.4 crore while Glenn Maxwell was sold to Delhi Daredevils for Rs. 9 crore. D'Arcy Short, who was one of the top performers in the Big Bash League, was sold to the Royals for Rs. 4 crore.

There were a few surprises in the unsold players section as well with the likes of Hashim Amla, Martin Guptill, Eoin Morgan, Corey Anderson, and Dale Steyn not finding any buyers.

Three-time winners MumbaiIndians will look to lift the trophy for the fourth time. They have never won an IPL final in their own backyard, but with their strong squad this season, they could very well come out victorious on May 27.

The Chennai Super Kings and KolkataKnight Riders will by vying for their third title each, while the Royal Challengers Bangalore will be hoping to break their jinx and get their hands on the title for the first time ever.

The Kings XI Punjab and DelhiDaredevils, who have not performed too well over the past couple of years, will look to go all the way as well.

Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals will be bolstered by the presence of Shane Warne as their team mentor, as they look to lift the title after a gap of 10 years.

The Vivo IPL 2018 opening ceremony will take place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, which will be followed by the first match of the tournament - between defending champions Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.
